one wild and precious life

my greatest happiness would be
to hold the mysteries of the world
to love the questions themselves
to care without boundaries
to grab the hand of a stranger or friend
and listen to the laughter as we ran
through fields of wildflowers.

It’s an odd feeling…

…when you are still awake and the birds begin to chirp in the wee hours of the morning. I like it very much, though - there is an inspiring peace in this dark, birdsong-filled solitude. The beautiful breeze blowing through the window keeps reminding me that, in a week, my summer will have started. Hooray!

It is 3:20am. I had forgotten what it was like to stay awake until the sun comes up. Too bad I don’t try it when I’m not writing a paper that is due in precisely six hours.

My hope is to nap in the sun tomorrow. So many lovely thoughts!

Back to work, I suppose.
